This is
where we get to flex our artistic muscles. Design plays an
overwhelmingly important role in a landscape. The use of materials and
plants, their color, texture and size are what ultimately make that
first impression on anyone that experiences your landscape design.
When we have our
initial meeting, we'll discuss your landscape design needs and ideas, budgetary
constraints, and installation deadlines. We'll walk the property
together, so we know and can see everything that needs to be addressed
in the landscape design.
As we walk through you will likely hear us ask 'How do you want to
feel?' We can create landscape designs that will help to relax or stimulate you.
We can make you feel exposed to the world, or nestled in a comfy nook.
We also will want to
know about entertainment habits and traffic patterns. Packer parties are
often a Wisconsin must, and we can create a landscape design to
accommodate those kinds of Wisconsin favorites. Do you have
children? We can design to accommodate play structures if they're young,
or open areas for sports if they're a bit older. Do you have pets? Some
plants and mulches can be harmful or even fatal to our four-legged
family members. And if you have big dogs (like Ripley and Wendel
pictured here), we'll need to design something resilient enough to take
what big dogs can dish out.
Do you like to garden?
We can build unusually shaped gardens, in small spaces if desired, so
that the garden is a part of the landscape design, not a contradiction to it.
Once we've had our
initial consultation, we take all the data and notes back to the drawing
board, where the creative process begins. Mood music and splashing water
are not uncommon for us when we're working on a new landscape design.
While at the drawing
board, we work to create spaces that make use of the property. We may
make areas that are small seem big. Or those that are big seem small. We
may employ the design philosophies of Feng Shui (pronounced fung
shway) to promote certain emotions in specific areas. We may use the
spatial relations ideas
honed by Frank Lloyd Wright to utilize the
spaces of your property to their fullest. Once we have all the elements
of structure, color and texture ready we will have a second meeting to
review your new landscape plan.
We'll bring with us
samples of the hardscape materials we intend to use, and pictures of the
plant material, so you can envision for yourself how everything will
look and feel when completed. We will review the construction timeline
and proposal price. We'll also give you a copy of our certificate of
insurance and a list of references, so you can be certain that when you
hire us you'll be pleased with your choice.
