| While this driveway
is very attractive, with clean, uncomplicated lines, it's simplicity
hides a unique secret. This paver driveway is the first of it's
kind in the Fox Valley, and possibly in all of Wisconsin. After
listening to an idea from a County Materials salesperson, Jeff Pozniak
contacted a professor of civil engineering from his alma mater.
The idea was to install a coarse layer of asphalt over a crushed stone
base, then screed sand, then install the pavers. After getting a
recommendation from the professor, we installed this patio with the help
of the folks at County Materials, and Badger Highways. The result
was a driveway that was faster to install, more durable, and less
expensive than if we used our traditional installation techniques.
Since this project
was completed, other brick driveways have been installed, and other
companies have used the technology. But this was the first of it's
kind! It even appeared in County Materials quarterly newsletter
(see our 'Articles' section for more information). |
